updates and upgrades

Huge love and respect to the Freocast Faithful for braving the wild weather for our third Friday event on 28 July. As always, we love touching base and sharing tunes with our listeners and wider community. Merch was moved, flesh was pressed, and The Drop DJs held it down on our live broadcast until 10pm.
Shoutouts to our regular sponsors  Gage Roads Freo, Old Bridge Cellars and Lightning Minds for contributing to the BYO.
Our next live event will be elevated, in every sense, by our new Freocast Forecast Terrace. Pieced together by local legends Greg and Dan, using donations from the kind folk at Urban Stone, Creation Landscape Supplies and EarthCare,  the Terrace (on the Terrace) will serve as a stage and/or dancefloor, depending on evening’s broadcast. We are so excited to continue expanding our space and bringing our community vision to Freo.

Last week was the second of our monthly FreoCast Fridays, a way for us to touch base with our listeners, get to know our local community, and listen to incredible music. It was perfect weather for a BYO fireside boogie, thank you for coming down, buying some merch, and signing up to be a Friend of Freocast.  As usual, our resident DJs held down the live broadcast with flawless sound selection well into the evening. Messages rolled in from around the globe, assuring us the tunes were enjoyed beyond the Freo-verse. Don’t miss our next event on Friday 28 July, from 3pm at our Sth Terrace HQ.

Events are held at our Forecourt Community Parklet, the vacant space in front of our studio. Each step of studio construction was supported by loving local businesses, and we are always looking for people who can offer skills and materials. We’d love to complete our community space this year: lay down some paving, set up a pergola for the sunny months, and tie down some outdoor furniture. If you have the capacity to help out, contact us.

Endless thanks to everyone who is supporting the vision. Thanks to Gage Roads Freo,  Old Bridge Cellars and Lightning Minds for sponsoring our Friday event. Additional shoutouts to our newest sponsors, the instantly iconic The Flaming Galah and Freo mortgage broker’s 5 Star Finance. They come recommended, please support them for supporting us.
See you at the next Freocast Friday.

Our first live broadcast
The fruits of our labour coalesced under a crisp Makuru night sky last week, for our first live broadcast, and our first of many Freocast Friday events.

Vinyl savant and dancefloor stalwart Josh Grainger (Ningaloo Records) dropped the inaugural needle at 3pm, launching our regular schedule of live DJs broadcasting from our South Tce headquarters into the cyber beyond.

Businesses across the city were left understaffed as station supporters clocked off early to enjoy the music in person, by the firepits in our Forecourt Parklet. We are so fortunate to supply good vibes on this land and look forward to monthly events on the terrace - watch this space.

Throughout the night more of our regularly scheduled programming was on display, with genre-spanning sets by newly-minted Freocast residents Harri Silvester, Emily-Jane and Kev (as YeahYep), Sacha and Jessi (as The Drop). Messages came in from across the globe assuring us the tunes were enjoyed across the Freo-verse. Make sure you check out our shows page and socials, to keep track of which DJs will be curating Freocast over coming months.

Freocast Merch was moved, shoulders were rubbed and BYO drinks were toasted. Here’s to many more.

Thanks to everybody for tuning in on the app, on for those coming down to enjoy the tunes and check out the space. We wouldn’t be here without our incredible sponsors:
  • Growth Financial Planners
  • Terrace Greenhouse
  • Artitja Fine Art Gallery
  • Ellison Support
  • HumDrum Community

And all the incredible businesses that donated materials for the Freocast Studio.
